FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SYSTEMGUARD LAUNCHES ORACLE PROBLEM DETECTION SERVICE MONCTON, NB -- November 7, 2000 -- SystemGuard, a division of Skyridge Systems Inc., announced today that it is offering a new service called DB Inspect for Oracle. This new service is part of SystemGuard's suite of remote database management solutions for the Oracle platform. DB Inspect is a one-time service that detects problems with Oracle databases. DB Inspect for Oracle rounds out SystemGuard's service line. "DB Inspect fills what we felt to be a gap in our offerings," states Skyridge board member Shelley Meredith. "We wanted SystemGuard to offer something that utilized our technology, but was inexpensive enough that it would be a low-risk way for people to try our services. DB Inspect uses the same proven technology as our SystemGuardian for Oracle and DB Checkup for Oracle services." DB Inspect clients receive a problem report that includes background information on all problems and recommendations on how to go about solving them. The report is in HTML format and is delivered by e-mail. The typical turnaround is two days after a database connection has been established. DB Inspect has been well received by early users such as the New Brunswick Department of Finance. According to Wayne Johnson, Manager, Operations and Technical Support, "We were surprised by how much information DB Inspect gave us about our database. The background information saved our DBA a lot of investigation time." DB Inspect is designed to require minimal customer involvement. According to Johnson, "The setup was a breeze and the turnaround was excellent." Like all of SystemGuard's remote Oracle services, DB Inspect can be performed over the Internet or a modem connection. The required access gives SystemGuard no ability to read or modify customer data. DB Inspect is available now and costs $499 per database instance.
